Joanne Lurgio, singer/songwriter, raised and still living in Warwick, RI. "I was 10 years old when I got my first guitar. Inspired by the music of Janis Ian & Joni Mitchell, I spent hours behind my closed bedroom door singing my heart out. Back then my music was for my pleasure only that is until the day my church pastor convinced me to lead a folk mass." "It was the 70's and every church had a folk group. I wasn't sure where to begin and I was certain I was not ready to come out of my bedroom; however, how could I say "no" to my pastor? So, with great apprehension, I agreed. I teamed up with a friend, took a deep breath and gave it my best shot. I will never forget that first mass. With knees knocking, guitars ringing & the congregation singing a standing ovation. "Funny, life has a mind of its own and its not always easy to chase after your dreams." Grow
old along with me, the best is yet to be "Coincidently, one of my favorite quotes also appears as an underlying theme in many of my songs - an inspiration for my writing, an inspiration for living. I have come to believe that it is not the destination, but the many paths you choose to follow to get to that destination that brings the wisdom earned from your experiences. I don't really think it's where you are going that matters, rather how you get there." "I am so happy to have finally come to a point in my life where I am doing what I love to do write, sing and perform. I am enjoying every minute of it! I don't believe I have been given a second chance; I believe my time has finally come." - Joanne Lurgio Favorite Links My
